Goldfish Week: Day 6

Useless Goldfish Fact: Goldfish have been pets for over a thousand years. Since ancient China, they have always been common household pets

I was feeling a bit sad because I have all these great goldfish pictures that I didn't use, but then I was like 'hey, just post them anyway.' So anyway, it was just a few, here they are:

Now, the picture of the day:
What do think the cat is thinking? Leave your ideas in the comments and I'll feature the best one in next week's Picture of the Week on Saturday.

Goldfish Week: Day 4

Useless Goldfish Fact: Through a goldfish's eyes you would see differently. They can see ultra-violet and infra-red lights, giving them a wider range of visual colors.

Here is some magnificent art piece posted by lauraonfire to Pearltrees. I really love this piece and was hoping to find the original artist, and just happened a whole site full of them. Visit Jeremy Enecio and the rest of his gallery at jenecio.com.

Goldfish Week: Day 3

Useless Goldfish Fact: Goldfish can live 20 years or more if cared for properly. The oldest recorded goldfish was raised by a couple in England. It lived to be 40-45 years (reports aren't consistent), and was originally won at a carnival.

I love both of the above image. It's beautiful in its simplicity.  If you have your own magnificently simple picture, please share the link in the comments.

Goldfish Week: Day 2

The colors on goldfish come from their skin, not their scales. Their scales are transparent.

Am I the only one who would love to have this necklace? Sadly it is just a photoshopped image. Leave a post in the comments about what you would love on your jewelry.

Let me just say this pic is flipping awesome. What better way to kick off Goldfish week than with some flying fish and a cat wearing sunglasses.

Fun Fact #12

You can tell from the statue of a mounted horseman how the rider died.
If all four of the horse's feet are on the ground, he died of natural causes.
One foot raised means he died from wounds suffered in battle.
Two legs raised means he died in action.

Under the Never Sky - Veronica Rossi

Looking for a book to dazzle and stun you? I have just the thing. Under the Never Sky is a post-apocalyptic world that includes sci-fi, fantasy, survival, and romance all in the same book! Now, tell me that isn't great. Plunge into Veronica Rossi's 2012 debut for a fantastic world that you'll love (most likely).

WORLDS KEPT THEM APART.

DESTINY BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER.

Aria has lived her whole life in the protected dome of Reverie. Her entire world confined to its spaces, she's never thought to dream of what lies beyond its doors. So when her mother goes missing, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland long enough to find her are slim.

Then Aria meets an outsider named Perry. He's searching for someone too. He's also wild - a savage - but might be her best hope at staying alive.

If they can survive, they are each other's best hope for finding answers.

Fun Fact #6

A quarter has 119 grooves around its edge; a dime has one less groove.

Goldfish Week is Acomin'

In two weeks, thatrangerkid will hold its first holiweek.....Goldfish Week! It's not really an official week-long holiday, but I thought it would be fun to have one. From April 21 - 27, everyday I will post different Goldfish themed things. Save the date! I can't wait, what about you?

Fun Fact #3

Armadillos use three different ways to protect themselves from predators:
  1.  Rolling tightly into a ball to shield their vulnerable stomach area
  2.  Digging a hole deep enough to hide its stomach
  3.  Jumping straight up in the air, usually breaking the attacker's jaw
